What Einstein Told His Cook by Robert Wolke. Just a few diagrams of triglycerides and other molecular structures. Yes, I did nearly fail out of high-school chemistry — perhaps my teacher should have made us eat our work. Then I may have had a chance.

Candy Friday: Mineco Bear Bubble Gum

I stopped in Paper Source to pick up more blank cards and spotted the bear buble gum from Mineco at the register. It’s adorable. so i picked up a package ($1.50 for 4 pieces of gum).

I’ve tried out the grape. Perfect ‘fake’ grape flavor, just the way I like it. Though while it gets a perfect 10 in presentation, it got stale and lost all flavor in about ten minutes. Oh well, it can’t be pretty and taste good, too.

Rocca Boston

 rocca boston

Had a tasty dinner with co-workers last week at Rocca. The menu is full of lots of small plates and smaller-sized entrees, which made it easy to sample about half the menu. My only complaint was that that the wild mushroom toasts are served cold–I was expecting a warm, tangy mushroom. The pastas were light and the pesto on the  handrolled trofie was delicate and fresh tasting.

A co-worker had the whole fish–always a fun picture at the table.

I would definitely go back, though it seems to be a bit too popular on the weekends right now and a reservation is a must.

Cupcakes and other sweets

Mac & Cheese with Pancetta

This time with a bit of crispy, pan fried pancetta on top. Delicious, thought I don’t think my jeans will thank me if I eat too much of this!
