It was quite bittersweet. The neighborhood I lived in was full of bungalows and ranches that saw an influx of residents right after the WWII. And there they stayed for the rest of their lives. But with a majority of folks reaching their 80's, the houses went up for sale due to deaths or the inhabitants moving into assisted living. So while I found so many treasures, I was always shocked to think that family didn't want to take home these memories and pass them on...I suppose I'm a bit sentimental!
